Is this true or is it another wives tale? Does having a pet live with you actually add 7 years to your lifetime?

This actually is true! Year wise I'm not sure but studies show elderly people live much longer when they have a companion animal at their side. I definitely believe this! Animals are amazing friends!!!

I don't know about that. Having pets to talk to or pet can help reduce blood pressure, studies have shown. Talking your dog for daily walks gets you out of the house and gives you excercise, which can lead to a healthier you...

no it just feels longer
Don't know about any specific number of years, but pets do enhance life. It is a proven fact that people with pets are much happier and have less health problems.
NOT SURE? but if it does crap if got heaps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never heard that before.. i've heard that pet years are 7 years more.. but not that they help us live 7 years longer....
I don't believe it's possible to know that for a certanty since none of us knows how long we're going to live. It is possible, however, to document what happens to our health when we have pets. It has been shown that pets do have an amazing healing power, that stroking a cat, dog or other animal can lower your blood pressure. It would then be reasonable to assume those things would cause you to live a longer life - probably happier, too. I know my pets give me much joy.
sounds about right. the first answer was right on. im not sure about the total number of years but having a pet makes you feel happy%26amp;reduces stress because of the hormones released. walking your dog is exercise and thats always good for your body. But alot of other factors that effect your life span that are also calculated into that like, smoking, genetics, obesiety, etc.
