How Often Do You Need To Flea And Worm Pets? (UK)?

I thought it was 3 monthly...but I spoke to someone today who said it's 4 weekly...with Frontline? Is this correct? If so, I think my pets might have to go down from 4, to 1, because this is going to be costly! What about worming, is that 4 weekly too?

Hi no this is NOT correct as I have 12 dogs plus other animals %26amp; I use Frontline...For dogs is is every 3 months for Frontline can go 3 to 6 months for worming if the dog is a adult...Cats every 8 weeks for Frontline %26amp; about the same as a dog for the worming...

I don't know where you got your information from but they should be warned not to be worming %26amp; de fleaing every 4 weeks as this is NOT good for their animals...they should consult a vet before handing out that sort of info that could harm a pet...

I have been in dogs all my life %26amp; if I don't know something I would ask th correct person like a vet if I felt unsure but you can relax as that was a false lot of info you was dealt...Regards Jake

don't know
think worming is 3 monthly but my mum uses frontline every month
I worm my dogs once a month and they dont have a problem with fleas b/c i feed them brewers yeast every day and i have sulfur granules on the yard and i do that like every 6 months they last. i have never had a flea or worm problem
Are they outside? Mine are inside and I don't have to continue the flea/tick prevention. I don't continue the worming either. If I find fleas or worms, yes, I would treat, but so far, so good!
worm once

you only need to flea pets in summer however many times it t

akes depends. but did you know the flea`s hibernate in warm places in you home i.e boiler cupboard
Usually the box gives instructions on how often to use (every treatment is different). If that does not tell you, I would consult your vet.

4 times weekly does not sound right. About once or month sounds right.
evey day
in the summer use frontline every month in the winter every 2 months

worming twice a year is ok

if the cats are out hunting then every couple of months is advisable
If you purchased the wormer from a reptuble and local vet you only have to worm your dog every 3~6 months. Another way to keep your dog flea free is to shampoo with an added flea killer this also allows for a bonding session that is very cheap but very worthwhile and ive found personally rewarding. Also if you have a dog you should try to keep it out of long grass and heath as this is one of the main habitats for fleas and ticks (which are nasty little creatures that suck blood!!!)
It varies on where youre Dog has been, does it mix with other Dogs or Cats. When i was a Boy we had a Yorkshire Terrier it was

riddled with Fleas,of course we had a couple of Cats as well and they also had Fleas. We were forever trying to get rid of Fleas off

them. The next Dog we had was a Black and White Border Collie

who had very little Fleas.Ever since that time any Dog I had never seemed to have any. The Fleas can carry Worm Larva,so it is a

good thing to at least De Flea and De Worm youre Dog Twice a Year, even though youre Dog does not show any signs of Extra terrestrial life, for youre own and any Childs health. If youre Dog is very Big you can get Tablets off The Vet ,The dosage is One tablet per Kilo. My Present Dog is German Sheperd and I give him two Tablets.Milbemex Dog Wormer. The best way to give it him is in his favourite food like a Sardine or a bit of Cheese that disguises the taste
It depends on the product you use.

Frontline is dropped on the back of the neck once a month during the summer when fleas and ticks are most active. You can do it less often in winter as long as you keep your home flea free, hoover regularly and comb the dog.

As for worm treatment, there are two types of worm; roundworm and tapeworm. Tapeworm are transmitted via flea bites as well as from infected animals, and tapeworm treatment needs to be done regularly.

Roundworm treatment is often given seperately.

Just see your vet and ask what they recommend; or check the packet you use.
I use spot on it has 3 applications so it lasts 3 months and only costs 鎷? overall for everything they cost they are still cheaper than children.
I use frontline and it says every 2 months, unless they are really infested with fleas then every month till it's cleared up. Or just phone a vet I'm sure they will let you know.....and worming depends what worming tablets you get. look on the box should tell you how often to worm your animal.
I treat my cat with Frontline every 4 - 6 weeks and give her a worming tablet every three months, as instructed by the vet.
Worming is about every 3 months but it depends on the wormer you use. Maybe you should ask your vet? Fleas about once a month but if you've been doing it every 3 months and they are fine then does it matter? (If your animals don't have fleas or worms.) At least every 3 months if not more often.
depends on how old your pets are i know with dogs and cats every month until 5 months old there after every 3 months that's wormier and front line and i been doing that with my cats for years as for my dog hes only 7 months and he goes to the vets regular for his treatment he went last week and the vet said hes to be seen after xmas so it is 3 months for him aswell
I use FRONTLINE once a month from the vets 3months supply costs around 18.00 but it does fleas ticks and certain worms, I get this as my dog is always sick with oral worming tablets or liquid.
Use 'STRONGHOLD', only available from the vet, sorts out flea and worm problems in one go. I use it in April, July and October depending on the weather / temperature. Not cheap but well worth the 鎷㈡嫝鎷㈡嫝鎷㈡嫝s. Thru' winter I use 'Nuvan' to spray carpets, pet bedding etc and find that this keeps on top of the situation. Hope this advise helps.
